Exterior blinds and their role in modern living
Exterior blinds are a key element of modern architecture and energy-efficient living. They not only serve to protect against the sun, but also significantly contribute to the thermal and sound insulation of buildings. Their concealed installation ensures aesthetic inconspicuousness and maximum functionality. Proper preparation for their installation requires thorough planning, especially when integrating into insulation systems (ETICS). This preparation is key to minimizing thermal bridges and ensuring the long life of the structure.
Purenit box - Purbox: What it is and its properties
The Purenit concealed box (Purbox) is a building element that provides space for the installation of exterior blinds and at the same time fulfills the function of thermal insulation. The main material is purenite, resistant to moisture, chemicals and mechanical stress. Purbox combines strength and insulation capabilities, while allowing simple installation of blinds. Key features of the purenite box include:
- Excellent insulating properties – minimizes heat loss in the lintel area and window connection joints.
- Durability and stability of PURbox in contact insulation - the material does not degrade even under demanding conditions.
- Quick installation – compared to other preparation systems, the boxes can be installed in one step.
Types of purenite boxes: PB, PBI, PBL
There are several variants of purenit boxes, which differ in their construction and use:
- PB - U-shaped box made of purenite. It is mainly used where translation isolation is resolved. In KZS, we will still create a space for exterior blinds from a material that works with it.
- PBI - purenite box with insulation. It can be in widths of 30-60mm. The most used and most effective version.
- PBL - L-shaped box made of purenite. It has similar specifications to the PB, with the exception that it takes up even less space in the KZS.
Each of these variants offers flexibility in combination with different types of shading technology and building systems.
How to properly plan purboxes: Basic depths, heights, frame coverage according to ETICS rules
The planning of concealed purboxes should take into account the depth, height and method of connection to the window frame in accordance with the ETICS rules. Major factors include:
- Box depth: For standard blinds (types Z90, C80, S90), a minimum internal box depth of 135 mm is recommended, for tapered slats (C65, Z70, S65) a minimum of 120 mm. For an application with a PIR insulation thickness of 30 mm, the minimum depth is 180 mm ( you can learn more here: Standard depths of purenit boxes | ISOparts s.r.o. )
- Box height: Boxes are made to measure according to the height of the window, with the possibility of a modular solution for higher building openings. Concealed boxes in a maximum length of up to 3500 mm are supplied as standard.
- Frame coverage: When planning, it is important to ensure that the insulation overlaps the window frame and connection joints by at least 30 mm, which helps to minimize thermal bridges and complies with ETICS rules.
Prefabricated cladding as part of the purenit box system
The complex system of purenit boxes also includes prefabricated linings, which significantly simplify assembly and improve the insulating properties of the building opening. The main advantages of prefabricated siding include:
- Simple and quick assembly – The linings are supplied in pre-prepared modules that can be easily glued or anchored into the building opening.
- Thermal insulation – Prefabricated cladding increases the insulation capabilities around the window frame and eliminates the formation of thermal bridges.
- Compatibility with purenit and sheet metal boxes – The cladding can be combined with various types of concealed boxes and translation modules, which ensures their versatility. You can find more information about the lining here Prefabricated insulation lining from Purenit
When installed correctly, the entire system of purenite boxes and prefabricated cladding will ensure a high quality of construction detail, while complying with all requirements for the energy efficiency of the building.
Summary
Concealed purenit boxes are an effective and aesthetic solution for installing exterior blinds, which not only improves the appearance of buildings, but also ensures their energy efficiency and longevity. Purenit boxes prove to be an ideal choice for modern construction focused on quality and efficiency.
